Fancy Clothing at the Oscars

I watched the tail end of the Oscars tonight and some of the aftermath of showing A-list celebrities arriving at the after-party. There was also a little bit featuring B-list celebrities going to a separate event being held for them. It’s interesting to watch since the Oscars usually have some entertainment and of course you get to see who won what. Another reason to watch is to see what everyone is wearing. Who wore the most beautiful gowns and who totally bombed with some bad choices.

I have to admit that I do find all the chat about who’s wearing what interesting. Famous designer names always pop up and instead of just plain old jewelry draped around necks, these celebrities sometimes have jewels sewn into the dress. Each dress I’m sure costs thousands to make and they probably only wear them for one night! Who knows if each celebrity even has to pay for their dress or if the designer just gives it to them. Either way one of these dresses could probably pay for a small car. That’s only the dress and not even all the accessories that go along with it.

The most I’ve ever spent on a dress is my wedding gown at $300 plus tax! Big money there! Haha okay not really. Most people end up spending a lot more for their wedding dress that they only wear for one day. I rented mine so I didn’t have to pay for a dress that I needed to shell out more for alterations and cleaning. Other than that I think it was $250 for a bridesmaid dress that is somewhere in a closet at my parent’s house.

None of the other fancy duds I have come close to those amounts. Plus I try my best to wear a dress as many times as possible. Keeping in mind of course where I wore it and who has seen me wearing it! I’d much rather keep the money than have a row of nice dresses to choose from. I’ve never been too interested in fashion but I know other people probably shell out a lot more money for dresses and suits.

Apparently celebrities don’t even have to pay for any of the fancy dresses and accessories they wear on Oscars night. That would be nice to be able to glam up and wear thousands of dollars worth of items and then not pay a cent for it. They do have to return everything though! Is it too late for me to try getting into show biz now? Haha, not my thing and I really have no interest in it. It’s fun to dream though.

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on fancy clothes?
