It isn’t Christmas yet but we’ve already opened a lot of the gifts that were shipped to us! I don’t know how it goes with you but I can’t wait to open packages until Christmas. I tell everyone I ship things to open theirs to make sure everything came through the mail safe and sound.

I got the chance today to try out one of my early Christmas gifts. An awesome slow cooker that does more than just slow cook. It can also sear and bake! My sister sent it to us for Christmas and for a housewarming gift! I love it! She has pretty good gift ideas I have to say. I’m already thinking of what other things I want to try making in it. It’ll be a great time save for when I have a longer commute to work and won’t have as much time to make dinner. Instead of resorting to quicker food that might be processed I can slow cook things through the day. It’s an awesome kitchen appliance to have that will save me time, money, and the earth.

Multi-purpose
I love that this appliance can do more than one thing! I try to avoid buying anything that is made for only one specific purpose. For example an apple corer or an avocado slicer. I can use a knife and spoon instead which has many other uses. An appliance that does more than one thing can possible save me from having to buy another one. This thing can sear a if you’re cooking on a stove top, bake, roast, and of course slow cook! If I didn’t have a full kitchen then this would really be everything I need. It’s too bad I didn’t have one of these in college where there was no kitchen.

One pot meals
I can make a ton of food all at once which is great! This doesn’t mean that I have to eat it all at once though and get really tired of it. I can freeze portions of it and save it for later. One pot meals are one of the easiest things to make since you only have to worry about one thing. There are a ton of recipes made just for it and then you’re not rushing around trying to make 3 dishes after a long day at work.

Food from scratch
Having this appliance that can cook food and have it ready by the time I get home will help me not buy processed foods and go out to eat. Big money saver and will help my waistline too. It’s always much more earth friendly because processed foods take a lot more resources to make and I won’t have all that lovely restaurant takeout styrofoam.

Right now this is my new favorite kitchen appliance! I made chicken soup today and I loved that I could sear the chicken first and then slow cook it. All in one pot to make it so much easier to do. It was piping hot and ready to eat as soon as I came home.

What is your favorite kitchen appliance?

Oh good! I’m glad you guys are putting it to use already. I’m kind of jealous that you can do all that in 1 appliance. We just recently bought a new slow cooker, one with a digital timer. So now we have 2! My first one still works and you can interchange 2, 4, and 6 quart pots so it’s handy depending on the amount of food.

Are you hinting that you would like a third slow cooker? One that does more than just slow cooking?

I love my crock pot too! They’re so great for delicious meals that you pretty much just dump in and walk away from… it’s almost like magic food.

My favorite appliance though is my Foreman grill. I’ve been a pretty big advocate of it since I went to college, but in the 10 years since, it still ranks at the top of appliances I love. It’s quick, easy and healthy.

The crock pot is a close second though.

When I was in college I loved my George Foreman grill! I used it for so many things. Toast in the morning and then quesadillas for dinner at night. I had a crazy college schedule where I would move every three months. We had quarters where we would be in school and then alternate with internships. The grill was small enough to take with me everywhere I went. I don’t use it very much since then because now I have all the appliances I would ever need.
