Another part about the holidays that I love is the baking portion! For Halloween I like to make pumpkin and bat shaped cookies with a cookie press my husband bought for me a few Christmas’ ago. Thanksgiving it’s usually pumpkin pie or cheesecake. For Christmas I tend to make more shape cookies and decorate those! It’s a lot of fun for me to be able to bake and for a good reason too! Of course I like eating them too! Yummy!
I love making cookies but I hate having to roll out the dough to make shaped ones. The cookie press is absolutely perfect for me because there’s less work involved and it’s fun pressing the lever to pump out each cookie! It’s still more work than just spooning out the cookie dough onto a sheet but it’s worth it for the holidays! The cookie press I have has all kinds of different shapes. Pumpkin, bat, Christmas tree, wreath, dinosaur, star, flowers and so on. The press also comes with a booklet with recommended recipes that are made for the cookie press to easily be used with it.
Baking can take a lot of time especially if you are making a large batch or something more detailed. I’m using the cookie press to shorten my time but I’m also going to frost them afterwards. The cookies always look great in the end though so the hard work is worth it! Haha unfortunately for me I tried making the dough yesterday and it backfired one me! The dough dried out a bit and just doesn’t stick to the pan. I ended up with 20 pumpkin cookies and the rest normal cookies!
I thought it was a great idea to try to save some time! If I was making normal cookies this method would have worked for me…oops! Not this time. I still ended up with some yummy cookies but not quite what I wanted. I fell back to plan 2 and just made sure they were nicely decorated. Re-reading the manual I noticed it warned people not to refrigerate the dough because it might dry out. Next time I need to read all the warnings first!
Are there things you tried to do earlier that backfired a bit?
