Sometimes when I buy something I think it’s going to be the coolest thing ever. Now I look back and wonder what the heck I was thinking. Some things I spent way way too much of my money on! I think everyone has a few purchases that they probably regret ever buying. I wish that I would have saved that money instead of buying some useless items! Of course, that’s always in hindsight! At least I sort of enjoyed whatever I bought years ago even if they seem silly now!
Pogs and a pog maker
I remember I was so into pogs! I loved going to the mall to buy them and so did my sister. I was trying to complete my Peanuts collection of pogs. I don’t recall which one she was trying to complete. I even bought myself a pog maker! The pogs themselves were 5 for one dollar while the pog maker was twenty. I can’t believe how much money I wasted on these. I thought these were so cool. In the end they were just cardboard disks with some graphics on them. The game itself wasn’t even fun and was pretty boring to play.
Black shiny plastic-y pants
I actually bought two of those! For some reason I thought they would be really cool to wear when going out. This was back in high school when going out meant a coffee shop or hanging out at the bowling alley. I bought these shiny plastic pants and then never ever wore them or returned them! One of them even had zebra stripes on them. At least the stripes were black on black. I have no idea what I was thinking back then. I think I thought they looked really cool. Haha they kind of looked like what singers would wear when performing. Of course I was just a regular high school teenager and not a singer.
I don’t think these were as big of a waste of money as the first two. I did enjoy looking through these and had a good number of cool Disney ones. I still ended up spending more money than I should’ve on this though. Most likely I have nothing valuable. I still have it though so maybe I should check a stamp collector’s book! If I wanted to do this the right way I should’ve consulted a stamp collecting book rather than buying stamps that just looked pretty. I was even soaking used stamps in water to get it off the envelope safely.
It’s kind of funny to look back at the kind of things I used to buy. Some of these things I did enjoy at the time so it wasn’t a total waste of money, but others were just wasted money because of carelessness. It’s much easier to waste money on things you don’t need when you don’t have bills to pay for!
Is there something you have bought that you wish you had kept the money instead? What was it you bought?
